The purpose of OSHA is to encourage Tribes and Tribal employees to reduce work
place hazards and to implement health and safety programs. This seminar will examine the court rulings concerning OSHA on
the reservation, and the tests used by the court to determine if the individuals involved are
Tribal employees. The seminar will also discuss reporting requirements for
fatal accidents, record keeping of work-related injuries and illnesses, posting
requirements, informing employees and providing them access to records, and the
prohibition against employer retaliation for complaints filed. Special
discussion will be given to regulations governing work place safety, health, and
work place environment. This seminar is for
all Tribal staff and Tribal safety officers as well as
others involved in employee safety and health.
