Tribal and Federal personnel involved with real property need to know and understand legal title descriptions in order to do their jobs properly. These legal title descriptions may be found on plat maps, rights of way descriptions, deeds, and other related documents. Understanding the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) rectangular system and how to read these descriptions are an important tool in realty management. Equally important is understanding the legal description of rights of way and easements. This seminar is designed for individuals (including surveyors) who are working with land descriptions and rights of way, who have a need to read and understand how tracts of land and rights of way are described, why they exist, and how they can be found.
