Generally, Indian Tribes in their role as employers are subject to federal employment tax laws and procedures. Tribal governments are required to essentially follow the same procedures as other employers. However, there are unique and special provisions that apply only to Tribal governments. This seminar is designed to assist you in complying with federal tax requirements and to meet withholding, depositing and reporting responsibilities. Topics which will be examined include fishing rights, elected and public officials, board members, independent contractors versus employees, business expense reimbursements, scholarships and educational assistance, and unemployment taxes. Also included will be the requirements established under IRS publication 4268. This seminar is for Tribal finance staff, senior management, the Tribal treasurer's office and elected officials.
