Federal grants and contracts require a current indirect rate. Preparing an indirect cost proposal involves many issues and difficult decisions. The federal government has transferred the responsibility for indirect cost proposal review to the National Business Center. This change is due to the requirement for independence of the indirect cost proposal auditor. This, coupled with several court orders (concerning "equitable relief" and "bench-marking methodology"), has significantly changed the indirect cost process for Tribes. Tribes are now required to utilize a new bench-marking methodology with new deadlines to obtain bench-marking rates. This seminar will address the new requirements and provide Tribes with the information needed to comply with these requirements. This training is for all finance and accounting staff responsible for indirect cost proposal submission.

Key topics include:

bulletHow to prepare and submit an ICP
bulletBench-marking methodology
bulletBench-marking templates
bulletCarry-forward rate computation
bulletDeadlines for submission
bulletComputing "indirect cost rates"
