Under P.L. 93-638, as amended, Native American Tribes/Nations can assume the operation of an IHS Contract Health Services program. Prior to assuming such a responsibility, or even after, Tribes/Nations need to have a clear understanding of CHS. This three day course is designed to create a knowledge of CHS, its purpose and complexities. The session highlights eligibility, how to obtain CHS services, and the regulations and requirements of CHS. A means to integrate CHS with other resources in order to maximize funding is presented along with a discussion of State Managed Care programs and how they relate to CHS. Also included are suggested management strategies, requirements for a successful CHS program, and innovative CHS strategies. This seminar is for all Tribal health program staff.
